We are pleased to announce that PHocus will be offered in Summer 2026! The program is transitioning to an MPH student-run model, creating a meaningful experiential learning opportunity that also fulfills the MPH Applied Practice Experience (APE) requirement. We welcome your help in spreading the word—please feel free to share this opportunity with your own high school-aged children, your children’s school guidance counselors, or your local school district. Grassroots outreach will help us reach interested students and strengthen the program’s impact.

Application Information:

We are accepting applications from interested high school students now through April 3 (early decision) and through May 22 (regular deadline).

PHocus: A Summer Experience for High School Students (Public Health: Outbreaks, Communities, and Urban Studies), an interdisciplinary summer educational program organized by the Rutgers School of Public Health.

During PHocus, students will explore population health and learn the fundamentals of epidemiology. Students can expect a variety of experiences including mock outbreaks, hands-on population health and community disease activities, and conversations with public heath scientists and practitioners.

July 27 – July 31, 2026 – At Rutgers School of Public Health, Piscataway, NJ (9am-4pm each day)
